Zainteresowania naukowe: systematyka i biogeografia pająków z rodziny Salticidae, głównie z regionów orientalnego, australijskiego i pacyficznego. Biogeografia wysp. Pająki kopalne. Rola pająków w różnych ekosystemach.
Publikacje: ponad 50 rewizji rodzajowych i opracowań regionalnych, głównie na temat fauny Australii, Nowej Gwinei, Nowej Zelandii, Indochin. Monografia Salticidae Polski w serii Fauna Poloniae. Artykuły popularnonaukowe: Focus, Wiedza i Życie, Poznaj Świat i in.).
